Job Summary

This position will work to maintain the safety and support of individuals during 24-hour out-of-home weekend respite care in a comfortable home-like environment while ensuring the participation in a variety of activities. You will provide positive reinforcement for all appropriate behaviors, social interactions and learning and give effective corrective feedback as needed. Support learning via leading by example-being a good role model in each interaction with individual/families and all staff. Assist with the Implementation of daily activities such as behavioral programming, life skills, educational services, medical appointments and leisure/recreational activities. These job duties may include working with individuals of the opposite gender. This position will ensure safety for everyone in the environment by being prepared and able to implement therapeutic crisis interventions (based on individualized behavioral programs) to include hands-on physical interventions as required.

Job Requirements

Essential Job Requirements:

Candidates must have a high school diploma. Additional college level credits in psychology, social work, human services, criminal justice, education or related field preferred. The ideal candidate will have at least one year’s experience working with youth with Pervasive Disability Disorders (PDD) and/or who have conditions on the Autism Spectrum (ASD) and display challenging behaviors. Experience implementing individualized behavioral programming is a plus.
