Job Description

You will be taking care of individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities.

This position will require completing personal care such as bathing and assisting individuals in the bathroom.

You will be responsible for assisting individuals with housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, vacuuming, dishes, laundry, etc.

You will be assisting individuals in cooking their meals and preparing to the correct food consistencies

Accompany individuals to doctor appointments and ensure proper paperwork is completed.

Administer medications to individuals as part of being DDS medication certified.

Assist individuals in purchasing personal items and completing grocery shopping.

Come up with recreation activities and accompany individuals on outings in the community. (movies, bowling, going to the park, shopping, etc.)

Act as an advocate for the individuals you support to ensure they receive the best possible care.

There will be daily documentation required in an electronic case management system called Therap.

Teach individuals new skills and assist them with completing their goals and objectives.

May be required to redirect behavioral concerns.

High School diploma or GED required.
Demonstrated knowledge of intellectual disabilities.
Valid State of Connecticut drivers license required with clean driving record.
Working knowledge of ADL skills: i.e. banking, food preparation, housekeeping, money management preferred.
Must be willing to provide personal care assistance to individuals.
Must have or become DDS Med Certified (within 6 months of hire)
Weekend availability is required.
